Sustainability in the Cleaning Industry

Sustainability seems to be a buzz word these days but it can be so much more for a business if implemented correctly. Sustainability can be a business approach that helps to create long term value by taking into account the 3 P’s: profit, people and the planet. Consumers are demanding corporate social responsibility from companies and if companies don’t step up, they could be facing backlash. Whether it’s stepping away from plastic bags, reducing their overall waste, or choosing organic alternatives, consumers are looking to see that sustainability aligns with your business strategy.

Ultra Shine realizes that the cleaning industry is one in which we can make a big difference when it comes to sustainability. Whether that be green cleaning practices, eco-friendly cleaners, or opting for more efficient machines, we can have a tremendous impact.

Did you know that 1 in 3 chemical cleaning products contain ingredients known to cause human health or environmental problems.

Because of the large impact that the cleaning industry can have on the environment, there have been many positive changes that can help your business operate in a more sustainable way. A way that’s better for the world around us. Many companies are now more conscious about the effect they can have and have adapted accordingly. Many have eliminated chemicals that could be harmful to not only people, but the environment as well, and opted for more eco-neutral cleaners. Many have switched the machines they use such as vacuums or floor scrubbers to be more efficient and environmentally friendly. There has been a shift to a focus on recycling and reducing use of plastics. All things that can have a positive impact on what we consider to be the 3 P’s related to sustainability; profit, people and the planet.

Before going into the ways Ultra Shine has stepped up to the plate when it comes to sustainability, I wanted to mention Ultra Shine’s values first. Ultra Shine’s core values are Partnerships, Innovation, Generosity and Compassion. All of these values can be strongly linked to pursuing sustainability.

Compassion: We care about our people and the environment and we want to make sure our actions align with this.

Generosity: Since we are fueled by compassion, we pledge to show generosity in our communities.

Innovation: Innovation is in our blood, meaning we’re always on the lookout for more efficient and better ways of doing things that support our business operations, our people and our environment.

Partnerships: We look for partnerships that share the same values we do. We want to work together towards a common goal.

These are the core values that Ultra Shine lives by and what would we be if we didn’t walk the talk. We stress the importance of continuous improvement and we think that goes hand in hand with striving towards sustainability. We want to leave a positive impact and green cleaning with a focus on sustainability helps us to do just that.

Ultra Shine chooses products that are eco-neutral, like our cleaning products, or certified for reduced environmental impact, like our garbage bags. We are also certified to service LEED certified buildings, a global green building rating system, providing a framework for healthy, high-efficient and cost-savings green building.

Did we also mention that we are a paper-free office! We aim to reduce our environmental impact in as many ways as we can, which means less printing at our office. Another way that Ultra Shine contributes is by investing in newer cleaner technologies as they are often more  efficient and better for our people using them and the environment.

Those are just a few of the ways that Ultra Shine contributes to their triple bottom line. We want to live by our values and leave a positive impact on our communities and pursuing sustainability is one way we are able to do that.
