Ultra Shine's Post Pandemic Outlook

Before March 2020, cleaning was in the background. We wanted things clean but didn’t necessarily want to see the cleaning being done. After hours was fine by us.

The Covid-19 pandemic really brought cleaning to the forefront as we realized just how much we touched on a daily basis whether it be tables, doorknobs, light switches  or toilets. Sure we could sanitize every 5 seconds but a clean environment was at the core of keeping not only ourselves but our community safe.

Ultra Shine underwent a period of big change as our partners wanted to either ramp up or pause their cleaning plans. Cleaning services at recreation and entertainment facilities halted and started back up as the restrictions changed with the current Covid-19 news. Other customers, such as shopping centres, needed to ramp up their cleaning frequency and place a bigger focus on touchpoints in order to comply with health and safety regulations ensuring their customers could hang on to some form of normal.

The team at Ultra Shine noticed some trends throughout the pandemic that we don’t expect to see disappear anytime soon.

Trend #1 coming post-pandemic, a focus on flexibility.

We weren’t expecting  a pandemic, and certainly not of this magnitude. Most of us had to pivot quickly in order to adapt to our new environment . This taught us all an important lesson on flexibility and being able to adjust for whatever comes our way.

The needs of your business may change and if that’s the case it’s important to know where your vendors stand. The commercial cleaning provider you choose to work with should be flexible with the needs of your business whether that translates to an increase or decrease in cleaning services. Yearly cold and flu season or future pandemics could require a higher cleaning frequency,  while facility renovations and vacancies could result in a reduction of cleaning scope or frequency. Whichever way the pendulum swings,  flexibility is more important than ever before.

Trend #2 coming post-pandemic, wanting to be involved in the cleaning process.

Simply put, we want to see the cleaners in action. We want to see the cleaning processes , we want to know what is being cleaned and we want to know how often the cleaning is being done. Seeing cleaners out and about puts us at ease.

As a whole, we are now willing to spend more on our cleaning services. We have come to see the value a clean space can bring and just how important it is to our employees, co-workers, patrons and community members to feel safe in public spaces.

Trend #3 coming post-pandemic, a focus on the right products and procedures

This is now top of mind for many companies when looking into commercial cleaning providers. They want to know that the cleaning is being done to industry standards with approved cleaning supplies. Knowing that the cleaning products are non-toxic to staff, guests and the environment is something companies have become much more conscious of in recent years.

A clean workspace helps maintain good health both mentally and physically. By doing things right the frequency of accidents and time off is decreased and employees are healthier and more productive. Businesses should be able to rest assured knowing that the cleaners servicing their facilities are taking all the proper actions to ensure the healthy and safety of the people who use their facilities is a top priority.

(And, don’t mind us while we plug that Ultra Shine is ISO 9001 certified meaning it meets and exceeds industry standards.)  Businesses will keep the measures customers liked from the pandemic in place whether it be easily accessible sanitizer, more space when waiting in line, the ability to book an appointment, or more virtual options to ensure they feel comfortable in their facilities. Society has realized that the spread of viruses is a much more prominent concern and businesses will act accordingly post-pandemic to help prevent the spread of those viruses protecting their patrons, staff and community alike.
