A Checklist For Choosing Your Commercial Cleaning Provider

We recently talked about the value a commercial cleaning provider can bring to your business (If you missed it, check it out here) and now we are going to discuss what you should be on the lookout for when in search of a new provider.  You should feel confident that you are working with the right company for you and your organization.

Reputation  Are they well-established? What is their reputation in the industry?  What other facilities do they clean? Request references and look up their reviews.  What do their customers think of them?  How do their employees feel about working there?

Policies and Procedures  Do they have insurance and WCB coverage?  What types of products do they use? Are they eco-friendly?  Do they have any certifications?  How do they manage quality assurance?  How do they manage their supply chain?  What kind of standardized procedures are in place? You want to make sure that the toilet rag won’t be used on the lunchroom table.

Training  How do they supervise their staff?  Do their staff go through background checks?  What kind of training do they have in place for this staff? This includes training such as WHMIS, proper use of equipment, cleaning products, etc

Fit  Do they align with your business?  Are they involved in their community?  Are they flexible if the needs of your business change? This could include flexibility related to increased or reduced scope or frequency changes.  Are they a full service provider or will you have to source for additional services like windows, strip and wax, parking lots, etc
